My worst fear...

Well, the walk Shinobi and I did this morning involved my top two ultimate fears when it comes to Shinobi...

I read in the newspaper this morning a tragic story about a woman and her little dog being attacked by an unleashed Pitbull cross Staffy thing, it broke her arm and killed her dog right in front of her. With this in the back of my mind I was decidedly a little jumpy and wondering why I chose to walk such an isolated and creepy route (which involves a graveyard for discarded boats and also an actual graveyard). Shinobi and I were wading our way through a section of the walk that crosses a very muddy beach when I heard a big booming bark. I looked up and saw a huge rottweiler galloping towards us. A little nervous now I scooped up Shinobi and looked for the owner, who emerged about 2 minutes later. He is a man I see often in Penryn who is, I think, homeless and a little anti-social. He made no attempt to call his dog or reassure me. I was standing up to my mid shins stuck in mud, with Shinobi frantically trying to jump out of my arms to 'play' with the other dog and a big barking rottweiler galloping at me.

Luckily for me I was being horribly judgmental and stereotyping the man and his dog; the rottweiler turned out to be terrified of  Shinobi, politely sniffed her and walked cautiously around her.

Still feeling a little shaken and slightly annoyed, we continued our walk (luckily the man and his rottweiler took a different route after that). Which brings me to my second greatest fear...

Shinobi picked up a discarded bag of dog poop and started shaking it - and the contents - everywhere. I think that's pretty much all that needs to be said about that. You can imagine the rest.

I'm going to try another route for a while...

  1. Oh no! I hope you two aren't too flustered or shocked! It's a shame what happened to the woman and her dog with the pitbull. A similar incident happened at the dog park we frequently visit where a man lost his fingers and his dog while trying to stop a fight. =[

Hope you two find a better path to walk where the sun shines down on you and there are plenty of delightful flowers to smell instead of dogs that bark and chase at you! =]

  2. Oh thank you! Makes me so scared to think what could have happened. It's not always possible to walk with my husband/a friend but I really don't like to always walk on the road when by myself! There are a lot of abandoned boats on that route and I think people have taken to squattig in them :/ I will find a nicer way, thank you :)
